My name is Victor Marinho. Since my father is an artist and my mother a programmer, I've decided to saty in the middle and became a journalist, open-source enthusiast, and innovation manager from Santos, Brazil. I'm 38, and I've been navigating the intersection of technology, communication, arts and colaboration for over a decade.

I'm part of the generation that dreamed of a free internet and open knowledge — and I still do. That dream shaped my career, my choices, and the projects I've been part of. Luckily in a time where Brazil was part of the avantgarde in free software communities and projects, specially related to culture.

I've created a colaborative podcast platform Rádio Jacaré, wrote about arts and innovation at Catraca Livre, developed systems for web radios and now work at a non-profit organization called Procomum.

Open source way of life

I work with collaborative communities, citizen innovation, and open technologies. I've co-developed methodologies like Maral (recognized as one of Brazil's top social technologies) and CLIC (published by the Brazilian government's innovation school — ENAP).

I've facilitated labs, mentored teams, and co-created spaces where people solve real problems together. I also document processes, write about them, and share everything openly — because that's how knowledge grows. I truly believe the FOSS resources make our lifes better, inside and outside the digital environment.

My communities

I'm a contributor to the Debian translation team, a member of the Global Innovation Gathering (GIG), and part of the Santos Hacker Clube.

One of the main objetives of this blog is to the document the process of being more active in my contributions and to learn more, specially about tech writing - subject I think I can be more helpful in the open source world and wich I've decided to study more.

Bossa Tech

This is where I write about what I'm learning — from FOSS, tech writring, specially -, but also a place for others to learn how to contribute and make better choices in front of a computer. The more I learn about GNU/Linux and computer science, my life gets better and it opens new oportunities for creativity and development of ideas and projects. I want to share it, I want to be more active at the Foss world, just spreading love and gratitutide in a objective way.

Bossa because it's the term that were used for the influence that samba receives from jazz, but also made samba be influentional on jazz - well, better listen to some bossa jazz records and my point will be more clear, I hope.

I believe I can build bridges beetwen the tech and non-tech world, even knowing it's not an easy task. This blog is one of the paths, tech writing one of the objectives.

The blog is fueled by LuaWebGen, and my computer runs a Linux/ Debian/ I3wm and an Arch Linux/ I3wm at my laptop.
